Darach has always had an interest in art and creativity, from an early age he could be seen whittling pieces of timber. Ergo, he was aptly named Darach which means 'Old Oak' and has always had a passionate desire to work with wood. This early love for wood took Darach into a career as a carpenter, no surprise there. However, this also reinforced those early bonds created with nature. For Darach's Fashion Jewellery the inspiration has been drawn from Darach's love of nature and the outside world in which we live but in our busy lives so often ignore. This was brought to fruition when he took a trip to Italy and was introduced to the beauty and creative potential of glass. Darach immediately applied himself to specialising in glass sculpture and found it to be a wonderful experience and a complete joy. Darach Graduated from NCAD with an Honours degree and now works in his own studio firing glass art and fashion jewellery in his own kiln and looks forward to each creative piece that's made.
